Chris Olsen, Founder of My Founder Story, Among 40 Women Business Leaders Honored in OUTFRONT’s National ‘Lifted Up by HerStory’ Billboard Campaign

This March, in celebration of Women’s History Month, OUTFRONT Media honored leading women across a diverse spectrum of industries in the U.S. with its “Lifted Up by HerStory” campaign. The effort applauds 40 of today’s business and community leaders for the impact of their achievements.

Among the leaders featured on billboards nationwide is Chris Olsen, founder of My Founder Story, a storytelling platform highlighting female-identifying business founders, and co-founder of Publish Her, a hybrid publisher dedicated to elevating the words, stories and writing of women. A radio veteran turned communications consultant, educator and author of “Whyography: Building a Brand Fueled by Purpose,” Chris is passionate about helping women in business confidently communicate their purpose and impact. Since 2018, her social enterprise has donated more than $220,000 in grants and services to women.

Patricia Andrews-Keenan, Founder of Pigment International™

Patricia is the founder of Pigment International, a multimedia arts platform that evangelizes for Black art curation and innovation. Based in Chicago, the organization creates digital and print publications that seek to advance the Black contemporary aesthetic in the visual arts. Patricia is the publisher of award-winning Pigment Magazine and also led the charge for the creation of Black Fine Art Month, which was first celebrated in October 2019.

Meg Daley, Founder and CEO of Friends of The Underline

Meg is the full-time volunteer founder and CEO of Friends of The Underline, a nonprofit organization leading the initiative to transform the underutilized land below Miami’s Metrorail into a 120-acre linear park, urban trail and public art destination spanning 10 miles in the urban core. She also serves as chair of The Underline Conservancy, the organization responsible for the maintenance, management and programming of The Underline as a world-class trail and park facility.

Dr. Crystal DeBerry, Founder of Indomitable Families Affected by Incarceration and DeNovo Clinical Strategies

Crystal is a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Indomitable Families Affected by Incarceration, a nonprofit launched in 2014 to empower families and individuals whose lives have been affected by incarceration. The organization focuses on promoting health and wellness and minimizing societal barriers. Crystal is the owner of DeNovo Clinical Strategies, which provides mental health services, and the mastermind behind the Incarcerated to Indomitable app as well.

Michelle Flowers Welch, CEO of Flowers Communications Group

Michelle is an award-winning expert in the field of multicultural communications. Her public relations and integrated marketing agency, Flowers Communications Group, was named to Forbes list of America’s best PR agencies in 2021. Michelle serves as a trusted advisor to clients, as well as a dedicated mentor to the next generation of communications professionals. In 2020, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Chicago established the Michelle Flowers Diversity Fellowship as a tribute to her meaningful contributions to the industry.

Nicole Marquis, Founder and CEO of HipCityVeg and Save Philly Restaurants Coalition

Nicole is the founder and CEO of 11 plant-based restaurants including HipCityVeg, which has nine locations throughout Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C, and New York City, plus Bar Bombón and Charlie Was a Sinner in Philadelphia. Nicole also founded the Save Philly Restaurants Coalition, a group representing owners of 300 restaurants. The coalition worked with local pharmacies to help distribute coronavirus vaccines to food service workers in an effort to save the industry as it experienced significant financial hardship during the pandemic.

Laurel Orley, Co-Founder and CEO of Daily Crunch Snacks

Laurel is co-founder and CEO of Daily Crunch Snacks. After working 13 years as an advertising executive on Unilever brands, she found herself loving the consumer packaged goods world, but wanting to work for a brand she could create from the ground up. After a few years of recipe perfecting, brand development and team building, Laurel and her aunt, Diane Orley, launched Daily Crunch Snacks in March 2020. Cristina Vera, CEO of Vera Creative

Cristina Vera is an award-winning communications strategist whose efforts have resulted in significant resources, representation and funding for underserved communities across Chicago. Her work has included an awareness campaign for the 2020 U.S. Census to increase participation among minorities and hard-to-reach communities. She also developed a city-wide Chicago Early Learning marketing campaign, helped increase Latino enrollment by 10 percent for the Chicago Head Start campaign, and connected with nearly 6,000 Illinois businesses to increase awareness and compliance with CDC guidelines among communities disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

Sue Zarco Kramer, Founder and Chief Creative Visionaire of Connecting Dots Guru
