Women Business Owners in the Salon Industry Are Invited to Join a Free Zoom Panel Discussion on May 19

In just four weeks, thousands of women-owned small businesses have applied for Fueled by Purpose micro grants from My Founder Story, which are made possible through a partnership with BankCherokee. Grant applications have confirmed some of the industries hit the hardest by the COVID-19 crisis. This inspired the My Founder Story team to develop additional opportunities for female founders in specific industries to connect, learn and support one another.

Community Connect live Zoom talks will launch on May 19 and will kick off with a panel discussion for the salon industry. Women business owners in this industry throughout the U.S. are invited to join My Founder Story for a discussion with Katie Steller, founder of Steller Hair Company, Melissa Taylor, founder of Beauty Lounge Minneapolis, and Sara Albert, an independent stylist and member of The Hair District Collective. All three women will share their personal experiences dealing with mandated salon closures and the ups and downs of small business ownership during these unprecedented times. This event is free for My Founder Community members. Learn more and register.

Katie Steller, Steller Hair Company

Katie is a stylist and the founder and CEO of Steller Hair Company, Steller Kindness Project and Steller Connect. She’s a passionate advocate for people and a proponent of kindness. Katie’s inspiration came from her previous experience in the salon industry. She realized that instead of complaining about what she didn’t like, she had an opportunity to launch her own business and lead with her values.

Melissa Taylor, Beauty Lounge Minneapolis

Melissa Taylor is the owner of Beauty Lounge Minneapolis, a published stylist, a makeup artist, and an educator for MIZANI products for textured hair. She’s on a mission to create change in the beauty industry and believes salons should be inclusive spaces where all stylists are highly skilled on all hair textures. She has also created a class to teach parents how to care for their child’s curly hair.

Sara Albert, The Hair District Collective

Sara has been an independent stylist for 20-plus years and a member of The Hair District Collective for more than a decade. She specializes in color and using the most current techniques to give her clients a look that enhances their features, makes them feel great, and fits their lifestyle. Her true passions are providing the highest level of service for clients and building genuine connections in the community.
