What is Women’s Entrepreneurship Day?
Launched in 2013 by social entrepreneur and humanitarian Wendy Diamond, Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) works globally to empower women and girls to become active participants in the economy. Through a network of like-minded organizations and individuals including women leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs, WED initiates startups, drives economic expansion and advances communities around the world. This powerful network provides essential tools and resources women business leaders need to realize their full potential and change the world.
The movement is also dedicated to educating the world about the importance empowering women in business. When women are elevated financially, communities and countries prosper—it’s a global blueprint for eradicating poverty. WED convenes business leaders, change makers, government officials and champions of women to collaborate and drive innovation in critical areas of entrepreneurship ecosystems, education and policy creation.
WED is celebrated at the United Nations and in 144 countries and 65 universities and colleges internationally. Since its first event, WED has reached over five billion people.
What is #ChooseWomen?
#ChooseWomen is an international social media campaign and WED initiative dedicated to elevating women-owned businesses and causes worldwide by encouraging consumers to support them.
